My Top Reads of the Past Week: Onboarding, retention and productivity

This week, I will follow my "fictional" candidate towards her next step on her employee journey. She convinced in the interviews, accepted a job offer and is excited to start.

We at Timeo-Performance follow up with our candidates after the interview stage and a few weeks into the new role. The feedback sometimes is surprising. After investing time and financial resources to find the best talent, little attention is paid to the onboarding process. Onboarding needs to be more than a paperwork-centric orientation. “A company that invests time in a quality onboarding process is 25 percent more likely to retain its workforce while seeing an 11 percent increase in performance, according to Christine Marino, the Chief Revenue Officer of Click Boarding.”

This is a crucial point of time to engage, involve and include the new employee. The research on Inclusion shows the high cost of disengaged employees and your new team members are feeling the most on the outside.

Have a look at my selection of articles regarding Onboarding and Inclusion from the past week:

1- Does Your Onboarding Need Some Work? Survey respondents said that more than 40 percent of their onboarding programs for external hires are paperwork-centric, such as filling out benefits forms and going over compliance documents. But that's not where the emphasis should be.

2- How to Do Continuous Onboarding the Right Way. Companies who have adopted continuous onboarding see a drastic decrease in safety incidents, increased employee retention and better business results.

3- Include Onboarding in your Digital Strategy. In today’s digital age, and whilst businesses look to move away from traditional manual processes, with the finance industry fully reaping the benefits, it appears that employee onboarding has been overlooked. But with the latest onboarding technology available, forward-thinking HR teams can now embed this critical area in their digital strategy.

4- How To Develop a Remote Employee Onboarding Process. This article is from end of last year but I felt that the situation of remote teams needed to be included. Here it is not the question if you have an onboarding process but how to most efficiently deliver it.

5- How to avoid the costs of disengaged employees. According to a Gallup poll, around 85% of employees class themselves as either ‘not engaged’ or ‘actively disengaged’ at work. No wonder employee engagement is a perennial issue. This articles discusses strategies to re-engage your team.

6- 59 Awesome Employee Engagement Ideas & Activities for 2018 (Plus 10 New Bonus Ideas). Some of the best HR professionals and business leaders recommend the strategies and employee engagement best practices.

We are in the Skills Business!

Through recruitment, training and consulting, Timeo-Performance provides solutions for increased performance of companies, teams, and individuals. As our clients are in the center of global business and often serve the APAC region, our solutions need to be sustainable in a multicultural and remote context.

Our joint venture with Akteos, the European leader in intercultural training, and partnership with digital learning solutions provider CrossKnowledge have therefore been organic and logical additions to our service. Timeo-Performance has been helping companies in APAC increase business performance since 2008 with offices in Singapore, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.

We love what we do, feel the Timeo-Performance experience!

As busy professionals, our schedules are often filled to the brim with meetings and tasks to complete. We can get so caught up with work that we might even forget our all-important lunch and power through dinner as well. Alas, we can only do so much given the 24 hours we have in a day. While time management is vital, being productive is another matter in its entirety.Enter time batching.
